It's a boy and...a girl!

Chelsea and Grant Michael Shady were born at 8:12 P.M. and 8:13 P.M. respectively, on Tuesday, October 28, 2008. Chelsea weighed in at a whopping 3 lbs 15 ozs while Grant weighed in at 5 lbs 8 ozs (I guess we already need to teach Grant how to share). Both are in the NICU and doing well. We anticipate that both babies will remain in the hospital for a week or two. Megan is recovering and doing well. She did great.

Love,
Jeff, Megan & Big Sister Whitney

34 weeks and counting...

Here's an updated picture of me and my belly. I'm doing my part to keep these little ones in as long as possible...we'll see if they cooperate.

31 weeks & counting...

Here's an update for everyone:

The twins are definitely getting bigger (as you can tell by my ever-growing belly) and they move around a lot! I've started to have contractions; my dr. has put me on medication to help with the contractions. I have to stay off my feet as much as possible (I haven't been put on bed rest and I hope I won't be put on bed rest - I'd go crazy!). I'm having a hard time making myself not do anything, I still feel like I can do everything, but know I shouldn't. I owe a huge thanks to Jeff, my parents and Jeff's family for pitching in to help me out. Thanks for doing my grocery shopping, laundry, picking up the dry cleaning, walking Sadie, taking Whitney to her art class, keeping her entertained so she doesn't have to stay cooped up in the house with me, and so much more. I appreciate the help very much. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Jeff

The other day Jeff was checking out our blog and noticed that there was only one picture of him...he wanted to see more of himself. Jeff, here you are...(sorry that you have to share the spotlight in some of the pictures...we don't have many of just you...)

27 weeks & counting...

You've been asking, so here it is, a picture of my ever growing belly! I'm 27 weeks and counting. I'm quickly out growing the maternity clothes I wore with Whitney. Both babies are growing well and moving around a lot. We haven't given in and opened the other envelope...we'll find out the sex of the 2nd twin in the delivery room!
Here I am looking pregnant

Here I am looking not so pregnant (Can I carry Whitney everywhere with me?)

I'll try to post pictures of me and my belly every couple of weeks for your enjoyment (I can already hear some of you saying "I'm glad it's her and not me." Secretly I know you're all jealous!)

It's Potty Time...I think

Whitney is starting to understand what "potty" means...so my new mission (to hopefully accomplish before the twins arrive) is to get Whitney potty trained. Am I crazy? Probably, yes. I bought Whitney her own "big girl" potty to use, but right now I think she thinks it is more of a toy. A friend did tell me to get a potty that doesn't make noises, sing, clap, etc., so that's what I got. To all the mommies who have been through this stage, what is the best way to tackle potty training?

Creepy Floating Babies

I've heard from some of you that you think the picture to the right with the floating twins is a little creepy. I will have to agree, but I haven't been able to find anything to put in it's place (that I like). Please let me know if you have any suggestions...otherwise, the creepy floating twins will remain until I come across something else. Sorry. :)

Drum Roll Please.........

The results are almost in...but before the results, a little story.

Jeff and I were at the dr.'s office waiting to have an ultrasound; Jeff still did not want to find out the sex of the twins and I really did. We had the ultrasound, but didn't find out the sexes...hold on, don't worry, keep reading. We had the dr. put the sex of each of the twins in separate envelopes and seal them and give them to us. We left the office with our sealed envelopes and headed home. The whole way home I was bugging Jeff to let me open the envelopes, but he kept wanting reasons why we should find out and my answer "because I want to" wasn't good enough. As we were driving home I told him that we should open one envelope and see what one twin was and then decide if we wanted to open the other envelope. He really wasn't open to any of my suggestions. We were almost home when he made a sudden u-turn and headed up a hill near our home. We decided to open one envelope and see what was inside! We parked, got out of the car, sat on a rock and began to open the envelope. I was very excited, I think Jeff was too, he was really trying not to let me get my way, he can be very stubborn! We opened the envelope and pulled out the folded piece of paper. This is what was written on the paper:
Twin B "Big"

I was expecting to see "boy" or "girl" written, not a gender symbol! My mind is not so clear lately, I had to think for a minute to figure what the symbol meant...it's a boy!!! Wow! A boy! I couldn't believe it. Jeff and I were both very excited. After finding out that one of the twins is a boy, I now don't "have" to know (but still would like to know) what the other twin is. If it's a girl I have plenty of girl stuff from Whitney and if it's a boy I think I'll have something to put this baby in. I don't mind waiting to get the nursery ready until we bring the babies home, they'll be in bassinets for a little while, so I figure I can get things ready (in all my spare time!!) once they're home.

For now, we have decided to leave the other envelope sealed and keep one a surprise for the delivery room. Both babies are healthy and seem to be growing quite well, which is all that we can ask for. Knowing the sex of the twins, or in our case, one of the twins is a perk!

TWINS!!

If you haven't heard, I'm pregnant with twins! Jeff and I are trying to decide if we should find out the sex of the twins. We didn't find out that Whitney was a girl before she was born. Jeff doesn't want to find out and I do...and don't. We can find out at my next doctor appointment on July 24th. Let us know what you think before the 24th...submit your vote in our poll below.

Should we find out the sex of the twins?
